River Cottage is returning to Croan Cottages in Kilkenny at the end of September as the show’s Steven Lamb and Tim Maddams journey to homeland (mine) again to teach a two-day residential course on 24 & 25 September.
Along with them comes their latest book, The River Cottage A-Z which will no doubt be filling kitchens around the country over the coming weeks (albeit it weighs a small ton).
Steven Lamb is thrilled to be coming back to Kilkenny, saying that Kilkenny “has become our base in Ireland and Tim and I are delighted to be back with another great bunch of students to cook, eat and get to know one another at Croan Cottages. It’s a great opportunity for us to share the River Cottage ethos, and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Ahead of their arrival, I caught up with Francis Nesbitt who runs Croan Cottages to talk about everything from raring ducks out the back of a three-bed semi in Dublin to what actually goes on at Croan Cottages.

As part of his visit to Kilkenny, Steven Lamb will be launching the 2016 Savour Kilkenny programme as the local food festival celebrates its tenth year.
Full-board places on the two day course are available at a cost of €575 and a limited number of non-residential places are also available for €395. Get the full details on CroanCottages.com.
