Get a look behind the scenes and the camera at the promo for the 1980s segment of Devious Theatre’s Heart Shaped Vinyl.

While there’ll be photos to share soon enough from The Hellfire Squad following the first promo shoot last week, I’m going back through the archives from May for more from Heart Shaped Vinyl, this time from the 80s (check the 60s here and 70s here).

The basics for the 80’s shoot were fairly straightforward. We had an eye on a location we had used for another show a number of years ago on one of the back lanes in Kilkenny City.

The steps, along with a little creative post production provided the backdrop to allow us rotate Aoibhín (left), Alan (centre) and Mairead (right) throughout the shots. Denim very much flavour of the month, this shot clean from the camera.

With the theme of the show’s promo being based around square vinyl-cover-esque images, the wider shot was needed to back the centre of the frame for the final crop.

While they’re by no means a band – that whole vibe was felt in the shoot and in the images, so why not go for something a little band-like for your chosen promo shot. The above made the final cover (see below). Of course, that means you can get a bit more band like for the alternate shots.

Each of the characters needed some individual promo as well to introduce them for blog posts and the likes and here’s the final set – a mix of black and whites along with a mix of colour-casted shots.

Oh, and the final image? Well, there was a colour scheme you see, at least for the final image and pinks were high on the agenda. A little colour replacement from the lead image further up the post, a bit of creative addition in post and we finished up with this for the 80s.
