365.82 National Craft Gallery

Usually here for pleasure, today it’s business to talk tech about some of the upcoming shows at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny.

Really, the next time you’re in town, go check it out. A world of culture that won’t cost you a penny.

365.81 Tipping At The Golden Inn

We (as in myself and herself) have become very fond of The Golden Inn Chinese / Thai restaurant in Kilkenny. We’ve eaten in once or twice but 9/10 trips will result in a takeaway. This, is how they collect their tips.

Reminds me of the old coin collectors in chemists or bars about 20 years ago (you know the ones, put the coin in, the dog does a trick or nods his lead or wags his tail). I guess design changes but the principle stays the same.

365.80 Trouble Is Here

365.80 Trouble Is Here

Graffiti spotting again, this time down by the canal walk entrance to the Castle Park in Kilkenny (entrance closest to John’s Bridge). Trouble is here? Haven’t seen trouble in the park in years…

365.79 Daffodils In The Park

If there’s one thing the Kilkenny Castle Park has going for it, it’s that there’s loads and loads of daffodils out in force, always a great sight to see/

365.78 Breakfast At Billy Byrne’s

This is is more deserving a full writeup at AnyGivenFood.com, but I’ve got to say that the breakfast at Billy Byrne’s on John Street is a winner. €7.50, all in, including orange juice and the lovely yellow teapot. Plenty on the plate and no chance of going home hungry.

365.77 Graffiti Mick

365.77 Graffiti Mick

The latest public work of art from Kilkenny’ Mick Minogue can be found under the Ossary Bridge in Kilkenny. With the area being designated a graffiti zone, Mick was asked to produce a piece for the area which will hopefully inspire some more creative tagging. A workshop with local youth groups will follow.

365.76 The Eight Degrees Selection

On learning last weekend that the Eight Degrees Brewing bottles are available in Kilkenny, I’ve stocked up for the weekend that’s in it. Two for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting with ye Howling Gale Ale.

365.75 Cookbook With A Twist

Spotted this one in the shop around the corner from the office. First time I’ve ever seen a gluten free HIV positive cookbook, how about you?

365.74 Having The Quack

365.74 Having The Quack

The Wednesday morning walk by the river skirts the outer walls of Kilkenny Castle Park. These two were perched high on the wall, “having the quack” as I like to think. It’s mating season in the park so you should expect to see ducks in the most random of places nearby.

365.73 Shopping For Easter Eggs

365.73 Shopping For Easter Eggs

Having left things late last year to get an Easter Egg (despite them being on the shelves about two months in advance), you won’t find me making the same mistake this year, with six already in the bag. At a fiver for three though you can’t really go wrong.
